Feb 10, 2006. You've Got Files! Version 2.415 Released with 5X faster FTP client.
The FTP client within you've Got Files! is 5X faster and all known causes of spurious notifications when monitoring an FTP site have been removed.
Corporate Licenses can use the combination of OldfileDetectInMinutes and NiwotFTPTool to detect, archive, and remove old files from FTP sites.
Corporate Licenses can use Include/Exclude FileNames and Folder Names in conjunction with OldfileDetectInMinutes.
The directory listings being compared now include the local machine's offset from UTC time when the directory was generated in both FTP scans an local scans, and notifications are not generated if the time offsets have changed.
NiwotFTPTool can handle retrieving (and optionally deleting) large files.

May 23, 2005. Gigabyte Express version 5.206 released with AutoGet and Multi-Gigabyte file support.
Gigabyte Express is a mission-critical, business-to-business bulk data transfer solution
that replaces traditional File Transfer Protocol (FTP). Versions 5.206 and 3.206 support AutoGet automated file retrieval and
multi-gigabyte files. Customer and internal performance tests indicate that
Gigabyte Express 5 is the fastest file transfer product on the market,
achieving tenfold performance over FTP on international links.
"Some
customers want to initiate all file transfers and not allow any incoming TCP
connections through their firewalls, now they can keep their firewall
closed and use AutoGet to automatically retrieve files." said Bill Gibson,
President and CTO of Niwot Networks. "Many customers are finding they need to
automatically send and receive DVD images and multiple CD images, and we now
support 64 bit file and transaction sizes."

May 17, 2005. US Patent 6,895,019 granted for RELIA technology as an extension of TCP
The United States Patent Office assigned Patent Number 6,895,019 to Niwot's RELIA™ Technology when implemented within the framework of TCP. Initially filed on May 1, 1998, this Patent was granted on May 17, 2005.
“The claims in this patent cover the implementation of error correcting algorithms along with retransmission using TCP packets instead of UDP packets” said Bill Gibson, President and CTO of Niwot Networks. “The original RELIA patent covers the combination of information recovery using parity packets and the ability to retransmit should the recovery be unsuccessful.”

Feb 28, 2005. Gigabyte Express Encryption for Export.
The United States Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security ECCN number for Gigabyte Express is 5D002.
The Licensing Officer's note is "This encryption item is authorized for license exception ENC under Sections 740.17 (A) and (B)(3) of the Export Administration Regulations."
All Gigabyte Express versions contain encryption code.
Gigabyte Express encryption is 128 bit AES/Rijndael running in "ECB" or Electronic Codebook mode
Key exchange is 512 bit RSA/Diffie-Hellman.
The initiating (dial) and answering sides must have matching username/password for the encryption/decryption to be successful.

Sep 3, 2002. US Patent 6,445,717 granted for RELIA technology using UDP
The United States Patent Office assigned Patent Number 6,445,717 to Niwot's RELIA™ Technology. Initially filed on May 1, 1998, the Patent was granted on September 3, 2002 as a system for recovering lost information in a data stream. RELIA adds parity to the TCP algorithm, and sends packets as UDP packets.
With existing TCP algorithms, software detects corrupted or missing information packets and retransmits the lost information. The RELIA patent covers the combination of information recovery using parity packets and the ability to retransmit should the recovery be unsuccessful. RELIA technology is the logical next step for environments which suffer from the combination of packet loss and longer delay, e.g. the international and satellite Internet.
“Lost information packets are a fact of life on the Internet,” said Bill Gibson, President and CTO of Niwot Networks. “RELIA sends a little extra data to allow the receiver to recover the lost information. This eliminates the wait time and the retransmission associated with lost information. With RELIA, your data moves efficiently even when information is being lost. Think of it as RAID for the Internet.”
One of the world’s largest multinational conglomerates sends thousands of files from California to India on a daily basis for remote processing. According to one of their Sr. Systems Engineer, “When using TCP/IP to send 145MB of image files to India it took us 8 hours to complete the transmission and when sending the same amount using RELIA, it took 40 minutes. Unbelievable difference! We literally watched files fly out of here! I would recommend RELIA as a transport method in any WAN environment.”
