Niwot Networks workaround for InstallShield X bug on Windows 2003 server.
InstallShield X has a problem with some 2003 servers. Install Shield X expect a Fonts directory under c:\Documents and Settings\user\Windows and/or c:\Documents and Settings\user.logonserver\Windows
Please run this utility to add the Fonts directory prior to running our installer:
http://www.niwotnetworks.com/download/makfonts.exe
We have never seen this error on our 2003 server, but previously we've had 4 customers that encountered this error on 2003 servers and adding the Fonts folder did the trick.
You may also add this directory manually:
Add a "Fonts" folder:
Documents and Settings\CurrentUser\Windows\Fonts (where CurrentUser is the
User Name of the logged in User)
From the InstallShield website, this note seems particularly interesting.
It appears to be some combination of 2003 Server and the missing "Fonts"
folder.
3. The root of the problem actually comes from our engine evaluating the
Windows Directory incorrectly. We then attempt to find the Fonts folder and
it is 'missing'. To solve this you can manually add the folder where our
engine expects to find it. Therefore adding a folder at: Documents and
Settings\CurrentUser\Windows\Fonts (where CurrentUser is the User Name of
the logged in User) will allow your install to succeed.
